Merry Christmas

It’s my favourite time of year, and every Christmas I can’t help but transform back into the excited kid I was in this pic  :p.

Hope you have an extra special day with the ones you love, smashing good food & celebrating the reason for the season.  Merry Christmas, happy holidays and God bless.

Make A Statement

The Statement

Had the privilege of singing for – as well as sharing some of my story with – a room full of amazing young people, along with Jarryd Hayne, Tim Mannah and Taga Paa at The Statement.

Talked about what’s brought me to this point, what drives me  and what keeps me grounded.

“It’s OK to be who you are!  No one will be a better you than you.  Comparison is a killer, don’t be crippled by perfectionism…”

BCS Fan Art Competition

BCS Fan Art Competition

Hey guys, what’s up?

So lately I’ve been trying to pick my jaw off the floor, ’cause I just can’t believe all the crazy-amazing artwork people are making for me.  Wowsers.  I’ve seriously got the most creative fans ever – where you at?!  So creative that you inspired me to come up with the BCS Fan Art Competition.

Wanna play?  Here’s how:

Step 1

Make some Barry Southgate artwork.  You can use screencaps, X-Factor pics, something hand-drawn – whatever gets your creative engines revving!

Step 2

Include the hashtags: #BarrySouthgate #WhereYouAt #BCSFanArtComp

Step 3

Upload your artwork to Instagram and Facebook.

A Top 3 will be picked based on which three designs have the most combined Instagram/Facebook ‘likes’ by midnight, Monday October 30th (Sydney time).  They’ll then be contacted to find out their personalized prizes.

Ready.  Set.  GO!

UPDATE:

ShoutOut to the top 3 BCS Fan Art Comp entries: Amy, Amena & Sophia!  Huge thanks to everyone who took the time to enter too – I saw every single pic, love them all!

X-Factor Australia

Daily Telegraph

Thanks Daily Telegraph for the love today, really appreciate it.

You know, the road to my dream’s been pretty rough. It really took a lot for me to put myself out there & audition for The X-Factor.

Growing up in South Auckland, singing Stevie Wonder’s “Lately” at my very first talent show, I could never have imagined performing at a talent show of this magnitude.

Man, so nerve-racking! But all you can do is just step out & give it your best…

Dry July – Bring Change Somewhere

Dry July

What do Roy Billing, Didier Cohen, Danielle Cormack, Wayne Blair and myself have in common?

We’re all ambassadors of Dry July: a not-for-profit organisation all about improving the lives of adults living with cancer, and giving up alcohol for the month of July.

It would mean the world if you could open your wallets and make a donation – no matter how big or small.  Not a cent of it goes to me.  I don’t benefit from doing this in any way, neither is it for “good PR” or anything lame like that.

I’m an ambassador for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation and have also just lost my second mother, Audrey, to cancer – this is a cause so close to my heart.

Please click on the pic above to make a contribution and a huge difference.  Thanks in advance for your time and support guys, I appreciate it.
