2013 Begins Now

Roller

2012 was the wildest rollercoaster ride of my life.

Exhilarating highs and devastating lows.  Truly some of my best and worst moments.  Most people would never have guessed – I tried my best not to let it show.

But I’m a firm believer that how we finish one season is how we enter the next.  And I’m so glad I can confidently say that I finished 2012 well.

Thank God for faithful family and friends who love me, for the powerful teacher that is hindsight, for the direction that comes from clear perspective and for hope.

I’m stronger than I’ve ever been before and am so excited about this next chapter!

2013 begins now.

Paying Tribute To A Legend

I’ve been meaning to do a tribute to the great Whitney Houston ever since she passed away.  Here it is.

This is a Gospel-flavored vocal, it’s just how I chose to approach this song.  And hey, I’m still on meds recovering from sick vibes, so go easy on me :p…

Somewhere in the Galaxy

Had the pleasure of singing with the insanely talented Jessica Mauboy for the folks at Samsung last week.

At the launch of their new Samsung GS3 Galaxy phone, Jess and I fittingly performed her single, Galaxy.  The event was hosted by the ace Jessica Rowe and took place at Sydney’s great Capitol Theatre.

Here are a couple candids I posted on Instagram…

Portrait Session for Getty

A little while ago, I had the great pleasure of doing a portrait session for Getty Images and I’m glad to be sharing it with you guys today.

It was shot by the outstanding and lovely, Marianna Massey.  From the States, Marianna’s work has been featured in every major mag from TIME to Vogue, and she’s covered events ranging from The Oscars to the Winter Olympic Games.

She was also assisted by the talented, Ryan Pierse, an award-winning Aussie photographer most noted for covering international sporting events like the Rugby World Cup and Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Man, can’t believe I got to work with two people so amazing in their field.  Score!  Not only that, they’re so cool and down-to-earth, it really didn’t even feel like work at all.  So much fun…

From Foodie to TeeVee

Commercial I did for Outback Steakhouse in America, was a fun shoot.

Man, I’d be the worst waiter in real life, dropping stuff everywhere.  Gotta say though, it’s hilarious & kinda fitting that I booked a commercial for food :p…

Dough Box

I’m quite the health/fitness enthusiast, but I do make sure I take at least a day a week to enjoy a few guilty pleasures.  And this is definitely one of them…

Wicked Dough Box crepe (Nutella, banana, strawberries, Tim Tam, Milo, Marshmallows, whipped cream) with a serving of white chocolate & chocolate brownie gelato on the side.  So good!

Dough Box in Newtown, my favorite dessert spot in Sydney right now…

Introducing… Freedom Aloud

One of my best friends, Jeremiah Woods, has launched an exciting new company & cause, called Freedom Aloud.  It’s been in the making for a little while & I’m stoked to finally share the news with you guys.

Here’s the full story in Jeremiah’s own words:

FREEDOM ALOUD: OUR STORY

My name is Jeremiah Woods.  For a number of years I’ve had a passion for the abolition of human trafficking.  A large part of my resources and efforts went toward this cause alone.  The more I traveled I developed a desire to help other efforts as well.  Traveling allowed me to discover communities of people zealous about the same causes I am: humanitarian and environmental efforts.  This was good but it got me thinking about the causes of others.

“Is everyone passionate about something?” had become the question I wrestled with.  If so, what are they passionate about?  If conversation promotes action, why aren’t we all talking about our passions?  I discovered that I can stand next to others in an elevator for five floors and not say anything about my enthusiasm to anyone; Not say anything about the causes I wish to make LOUD.  I wanted to make a difference.  I wanted to get people talking, sharing, and raising money in order to further these efforts.

In 2010 I developed a company designed to give voice to the humanitarian and environmental causes and passions of people everywhere.  FREEDOM ALOUD.  Freedom Aloud company comes with a question attached: What’s your cause?  The goal is to get people talking about their causes and get others involved in its promotion and fund raising.  The colors hold their own significance.  They represent the causes I am ardent about.

RED: humanitarian efforts.

BLUE: clean water projects.

GREEN: environmental efforts.

A portion of the money raised from each product sold will go to the non profit groups giving to those efforts I am fervent about (human, water, and environmental).  However, if there is a large purchase, I will give to the humanitarian or environmental effort of the buyers choice.

FREEDOM is supposed to be made LOUD.  It’s time for humanity to stand up for what we are passionate about.  Make it LOUD.  What’s your cause?

* You can follow Freedom Aloud on Twitter by clicking the pic at the top of this post.
